Our wooden garden benches combine traditional cabinet making with the strength and proportion required for long-term exterior use.
We make each bench individually using pegged mortise-and-tenon joinery, considering its dimensions and detailing in relation to the garden, property or architectural setting.
Our established designs provide a starting point, with dimensions, proportions and detailing considered individually for each commission.
Oak, Iroko or Accoya™
For a natural finish, choose FSC-certified Oak or Iroko, both of which develop character as they weather outdoors.
For painted garden benches, Accoya™ offers exceptional dimensional stability and can be professionally spray coated in virtually any colour, allowing the bench to relate directly to surrounding architecture and exterior joinery.
Memorial Benches
We also make bespoke wooden memorial benches for private gardens, estates, colleges and other significant settings.
Personalised engraving or a discreet plaque can be incorporated into the design, creating a lasting dedication considered as part of the bench rather than simply added to it.

Designed specifically for corners, the Oxford Bench™ makes considered use of courtyards, walled gardens and architectural spaces where conventional garden seating can feel awkward.
Its proportions create an inviting place to sit while allowing the bench to become part of the structure and geometry of the surrounding space.
The Dyffryn Bench™ – Heritage Reimagined
Specially commissioned by the National Trust, the Dyffryn Bench™ takes its influence from the work of Edwardian landscape architect Thomas Mawson at Dyffryn Gardens in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Its distinctive curved form and substantial proportions reflect the architectural character of the gardens, creating a bench designed to sit confidently within a formal landscape.
The Polesden Bench™ – Timeless Excellence
Specially commissioned by the National Trust, the Polesden Bench™ was developed from an original garden bench at Polesden Lacey, the Edwardian country estate once home to Margaret Greville.
We retained the character, proportions and detailing of the historic design, using traditional cabinet making and architectural joinery appropriate to the original piece and its continued exterior use.
The Rockingham Daybed™ – The Original Rocking Daybed
Developed by Oxford Planters as the world’s first rocking daybed, the Rockingham Daybed™ combines generous outdoor seating with a smooth, controlled rocking movement.
Its patented design brings together considered engineering, traditional joinery and architectural form, creating a distinctive piece of outdoor furniture designed for gardens, terraces and poolside settings.
The Sovereign Bench™ takes its influence from the historic Langdale Seat by the Mawson brothers, whose work helped shape early twentieth-century British garden and landscape design. Commissioned for the National Trust alongside our Dyffryn Bench™ and Polesden Bench™, its substantial proportions and architectural detailing reflect the character of traditional estate garden furniture.
The Adams Bench is defined by its high, gently sloping back and carefully shaped curves, giving it a strong yet refined architectural profile. Its balanced proportions allow it to sit comfortably within both traditional and contemporary garden settings. Choose FSC-certified Oak or Iroko to weather naturally, or Accoya™ for a precise painted finish in virtually any colour.
The Ambleside Bench takes its influence from the Mawson Brothers’ early twentieth-century furniture designs. A pair of heart-shaped cut-outs and central diamond motif define the back, creating a distinctive composition of symmetry, geometry and restrained decorative detail.
The Lutyens Bench is one of the most recognisable garden seat designs associated with Sir Edwin Lutyens and the English Arts and Crafts tradition. Its sculptural back, sweeping lines and distinctive circular armrests create a strong architectural composition, equally at home within formal gardens, terraces and established landscapes.
The Oxford Bench™ is defined by clean lines, balanced proportions and restrained architectural detailing. Its understated form allows it to sit naturally within contemporary courtyards, walled gardens and more traditional landscapes, while traditional joinery provides the strength required for long-term exterior use.

The Milton Bench has a low, restrained profile, defined by its straight top rail and balanced architectural proportions. Made to order in Oak, Iroko or painted Accoya™.
