The Ambleside Bench™
Inspired by Thomas Mawson
Made for the National Trust at Dyffryn Gardens, the Ambleside Bench™ is a traditional wooden garden bench influenced by the early twentieth-century furniture designs of landscape architect Thomas Mawson.
Distinctive heart-shaped cut-outs and a central diamond motif define its backrest, while shaped front legs and arm supports introduce symmetry and architectural detail.
Its balanced proportions retain the character of historic English garden furniture, making it particularly suited to formal gardens, country estates and period properties.
Traditional Joinery, Made to Order
Each Ambleside Bench™ is made individually to order using traditional joinery techniques and substantial timber sections for strength and long-term exterior use.
Dimensions and detailing are considered in relation to the setting, with a choice of FSC-certified Oak or Iroko to weather naturally, or Accoya™ for a specialist spray-applied painted finish.
