A bespoke twelve-sided Polesden Bench™ in air-dried Oak, commissioned by the National Trust with integrated wheelchair and pushchair spaces for inclusive garden seating.

A bespoke twelve-sided Polesden Bench™ in air-dried Oak, commissioned by the National Trust with integrated wheelchair and pushchair spaces for inclusive garden seating.
Originally commissioned by the National Trust, the Polesden Bench™ is a bespoke wooden garden bench developed from an original design at Polesden Lacey, the Edwardian country estate once home to Margaret Greville.
Its distinctive form and generous proportions retain the character of the historic bench, interpreted through traditional cabinet making and architectural joinery for long-term exterior use.
Each Polesden Bench™ is made individually to order using traditional joinery techniques and substantial timber sections, with dimensions and configurations considered in relation to the garden, estate or architectural setting.
We work with FSC-certified Oak or Iroko for a natural finish that develops character as the timber weathers, or A1 Grade Accoya™ for a specialist spray-applied painted finish.
For the National Trust, we developed a bespoke twelve-sided Polesden Bench™ incorporating dedicated wheelchair and pushchair spaces, alongside seating at different heights.
This inclusive garden seating arrangement integrates accessibility within the architectural design, retaining the proportions and character of the original bench.
The Polesden Bench™ is supported by our 15-Year Structural Guarantee, subject to our terms and conditions.
Each Polesden Bench™ is made individually to order. Enquire to discuss your preferred dimensions, configuration, timber and finish. We typically respond the same working day.
