The Wadham™ is a substantial architectural wooden planter influenced by the practical principles of the traditional Versailles planter.
Strong proportions, vertical timber boarding and exposed metal straps give the Wadham™ its distinctive estate character, while removable side panels provide access to established planting when required.
We deliberately designed the Wadham™ for much larger dimensions, giving it the scale and presence required for specimen trees and substantial planting.
We make each Wadham™ individually to order in Oak, Iroko or Accoya™, considering its proportions, timber and finishin relation to the planting and architectural setting.
Removable Panels for Long-Term Planting
The Wadham™ combines traditional exterior joinery with the practical advantages associated with the historic Versailles planter.
Removable side panels provide access to the root system of established planting, an important consideration for specimen trees intended to remain within a planter for many years.
This allows the Wadham™ to provide more than architectural presence. We design it around the long-term requirements of substantial planting.

We designed the Wadham™ with substantial, long-term planting in mind.
Four removable timber panels provide access to established root systems for inspection and maintenance, allowing important work to take place without unnecessarily disturbing the planting.
The design can also accommodate irrigation where required. Combined with its generous planting capacity and considered engineering, this makes the Wadham™ particularly suited to specimen trees, topiary and substantial shrubs.
Oak, Iroko or Accoya™
Oak gives the Wadham™ a traditional character that sits naturally alongside country houses, stonework and established gardens, while Iroko offers a quieter natural appearance. Both can be left to weather naturally over time.
For painted commissions, Accoya™ offers excellent dimensional stability and allows colour to relate directly to surrounding architecture, exterior joinery and the wider landscape.
