The Oriel Obelisk™
The Oriel Obelisk™ is a beautifully tapered wooden garden obelisk, designed as the natural companion to our cask-inspired Oriel Wooden Garden Planter. Its carefully considered proportions allow it to sit precisely within the planter’s upper rim, creating an elegant framework for climbing plants from clematis and roses to runner beans.
At Oxford Planters, we approach the wooden garden obelisk as a piece of garden architecture rather than simply a support for planting. The Oriel Obelisk™ follows the proportions of the Oriel planter, creating a single, coherent form within the landscape.
Each Oriel Obelisk™ is handmade to order in our Cotswolds workshop by our architectural joiners. Drawing on the principles of fine cabinet making and architectural joinery, we use traditional joinery techniques throughout, carefully considering every proportion and detail.
We select oak, iroko and A1-grade Accoya® for their character, stability and ability to withstand outdoor conditions. Oak and iroko can weather naturally over time, while Accoya® provides an exceptionally stable foundation for a professionally applied finish in your chosen colour.
The Oriel Obelisk™ is made to your required dimensions, allowing its scale and proportions to respond to the planter, planting and wider setting. Used with the Oriel planter or commissioned independently, this wooden garden obelisk brings height, structure and architectural interest to the garden.
The Oriel Obelisk™ is commissioned separately from the Oriel Planter.
