The Dyffryn Bench™ wooden garden bench in a formal garden setting

The Dyffryn Bench™ bespoke curved wooden bench with bold proportions
Commissioned by the National Trust for Dyffryn Gardens, the Dyffryn Bench™ takes its inspiration from the celebrated work of landscape architect Thomas Mawson. Reimagined by Oxford Planters, it brings together timeless design, exceptional craftsmanship and enduring quality.
Drawing on Mawson’s original 1904 catalogue, the Dyffryn Bench™ reflects his belief that garden structures should sit naturally within the landscape. Strong architectural lines and generous proportions give the bench a quiet presence, equally at home in historic estates, country gardens and contemporary landscapes.
Our joiners craft every Dyffryn Bench™ using time-honoured joinery and carefully selected hardwoods, including FSC-certified Accoya™, oak and iroko. Each bench is made to order and finished to your chosen specification, ensuring every commission feels entirely at home within its setting.
The Dyffryn Bench™ has been designed to become part of the landscape rather than simply placed within it. Its generous proportions and carefully balanced detailing allow it to complement everything from formal terraces and historic estates to contemporary gardens and private courtyards. Whether positioned beneath a mature tree, overlooking a lawn or framing a garden path, the Dyffryn Bench™ brings a quiet architectural presence to its surroundings while offering exceptional comfort for everyday use.
Made using the same cabinet-making principles that define every Oxford Planters commission, the Dyffryn Bench™ is designed to weather beautifully, developing character with every passing season. Created to become a lasting feature of the garden, it reflects the enduring values of thoughtful design, British craftsmanship and exceptional materials.
