A Sculptural Wooden Planter
The Pembroke™ is a distinctive tall wooden planter designed to introduce height, structure and architectural planting to gardens, terraces and courtyards.
Its faceted form and vertical fluting rise to a gently arched profile, finished with hand-formed lead capping and a Black Walnut disc set centrally beneath the arch. These contrasting materials give the Pembroke™ a character quite unlike our more traditional planter designs.
Originally designed exclusively for Oxford Planters by Andrew Fisher Tomlin of Fisher Tomlin & Bowyer in 2007, the Pembroke™ remains one of the most individual designs in our collection.
Designed with Height and Presence
The tall proportions of the Pembroke™ create a strong vertical presence while occupying relatively little space at ground level.
This makes it particularly effective beside entrances, within courtyards, against architectural elevations and in landscapes where planting is required to introduce height and structure.
Its proportions work particularly well with clipped topiary and specimen planting, where the relationship between planter and plant becomes part of the overall composition.
Faceted Form, Precise Detail
The Pembroke™ relies on precision throughout. Its faceted form, vertical fluting, arched profile, hand-formed lead capping and contrasting Black Walnut detail are integral to the design.

An Original Oxford Planters Design
Created exclusively for Oxford Planters, the Pembroke™ has an unusual faceted form that changes subtly as it rises towards the arched upper profile.
Hand-formed lead capping follows the shape of the planter, while a Black Walnut disc set centrally beneath the arch provides a small but deliberate contrast. Together, these details give the Pembroke™ its distinctive sculptural character.
Oak, Iroko or Accoya™
In Oak or Iroko, the faceted form is emphasised by the natural grain of the timber and can be left to weather naturally over time.
Accoya™ is particularly suited to a painted Pembroke™, providing the dimensional stability required for its precise geometry and professionally applied finish.
