The Lincoln™ is a distinctive wooden planter with an industrial influence, defined by its expressed external frame, inset timber panels and strong architectural proportions.
Rather than disguising its structure, the design makes the frame a defining feature. Strong vertical and horizontal lines create a distinctive grid around the inset panels, giving the Lincoln™ a substantial, architectural presence.
Natural timber and painted finishes can be used to emphasise the contrast between frame and panels, or brought together for a quieter, more unified appearance.
We make each Lincoln™ individually to order in our Cotswolds workshop, with proportions, timber and finish considered for its setting and intended planting.
The relationship between the external frame and inset panels gives the Lincoln™ its individual character.
A painted frame paired with natural Oak or Iroko accentuates this detail and introduces the warmth of natural timber. Alternatively, a coordinated painted finish creates a more restrained architectural appearance.
Behind its strong visual identity, we consider the engineering of each Lincoln™ according to its scale and intended planting, making it particularly suited to specimen planting and substantial landscape schemes.
Commission the Lincoln™ individually, as a matching pair or as a coordinated collection, with proportions, timber and finish considered for the intended planting and architectural setting.

The Lincoln™ offers the opportunity to create a deliberate contrast between its powder-coated frame and inset timber panels.
Natural Oak or Iroko panels can be paired with a powder-coated frame, accentuating the geometry of the design while introducing the warmth and character of natural timber. Alternatively, the frame colour can be selected to relate more closely to surrounding architecture and exterior detailing.
We consider each combination in relation to the setting, landscape and planting.
The strong architectural lines of the Lincoln™ make it particularly effective within contemporary landscapes, courtyards and terraces.
Its combination of powder-coated metal and natural timber also allows it to sit comfortably alongside brick, stone and other architectural materials.
Used in pairs or repeated across a larger scheme, Lincoln™ planters can frame entrances, define outdoor spaces and introduce structure through planting.

Yes. The frame is powder coated and the colour can be selected to complement the timber panels, surrounding architecture or wider landscape scheme.
We offer the Lincoln™ with Oak, Iroko or Accoya™ timber panels. The choice will depend on the desired appearance, finish and setting, and we can advise on the most appropriate combination.
Yes. We consider each Lincoln™ according to its dimensions and intended planting, taking account of the considerable loads created by soil, water and mature plants.
Yes. We design our planters for direct planting. Our specialist internal coating system, developed for our planters in 2008, protects the internal timber surfaces while maximising the space available for planting.
Yes. We make each Lincoln™ to order, with proportions considered for the planting, location and surrounding architecture. For larger commissions, we adapt the engineering to suit the increased scale and anticipated planting load.
A Distinctive Combination of Materials
The Lincoln™ brings together powder-coated metal and timber to create a strong architectural planter with a character quite different from our all-timber designs.
