Stylish tapered planter designed to be made in any size. Made traditionally with mortice and tenon joints fixed in place with hand-turned wooden dowels.
The Merton™ tapered wooden planter is defined by its elegant trapezoid form and its ability to achieve substantial scale without losing proportion. Its clean architectural silhouette makes it particularly suited to larger specimen trees, formal terraces and expansive landscapes.
The Merton™ is designed to increase in scale with confidence. Substantial legs, strong top and bottom rails and traditional mortise and tenon joinery provide the structure required for larger dimensions, while the tapered profile keeps the overall form balanced.
This makes the Merton™ particularly well suited to commissions where a smaller planter would lack the presence the setting requires.
We make each Merton™ individually in our Cotswolds workshop from oak, iroko or Accoya®. Oak and iroko will weather naturally, developing a refined silver patina, while Accoya® provides a stable foundation for a professionally applied finish in your chosen colour.
The Merton™ is for those who understand that scale requires more than simply making something larger. Proportion and structure must remain in balance as the dimensions grow.

When a landscape calls for greater scale, proportion becomes critical. We can tailor the Merton™ to the dimensions, planting and architecture of your setting, retaining the balance that defines the design.
