A luxury oak farmhouse table brings warmth, strength, and architectural presence to a refined alpine interior. We handcrafted this 2.5-metre table and bench set in our Cotswolds workshop for a private chalet in the French Alps. The client wanted scale, authenticity, and uncompromising material quality. We delivered exactly that.
We select premium French oak for its strength, grain definition, and longevity. Our craftsmen form the substantial 40mm tabletop from full-length solid timbers. We never use laminates. This method preserves the natural flow of the grain and ensures outstanding structural integrity. As a result, the surface feels grounded, substantial, and built for generations.
We kiln-dry all indoor oak before crafting each table and bench. This process stabilises the timber and reduces internal moisture. Consequently, the furniture performs beautifully in heated interior spaces. For exterior commissions, we choose air-dried oak instead. Air drying allows the timber to retain the resilience it needs to respond naturally to outdoor conditions. This careful selection process protects the longevity of every piece we create.
We construct the matching benches to the same exacting standard. Strong joinery, balanced proportions, and precise detailing ensure the table anchors the room with confidence. Moreover, the generous scale invites gathering and conversation. Over time, the oak develops a deeper patina, which enhances its tone and character.
This luxury oak farmhouse table does more than furnish a room. It defines it. Positioned beneath exposed beams or beside panoramic mountain views, it becomes the natural focal point of the chalet, refined, enduring, and unmistakably bespoke.
