About This Project

Rustication is a decorative masonry technique. Craftsmen cut back the edges of stones to create a flat surface, leaving the center rough or projecting. This technique gives exterior walls a bold, textured look.

Ancient Greek, Roman, and medieval architects used rustication. During the Italian Renaissance, they applied it to palaces like the Pitti Palace and the Medici-Riccardi Palace in Florence. Indigo Jones introduced rustication to England in the 17th century. It became a common feature in English architecture during the 17th and 18th centuries.

At Oxford Planters, we recreated the chamfered rustication found on a London property. The result is our Belgravia planters, custom-designed for the front of the property. We craft these planters to order and tailor them to your exact dimensions. Our Belgravia planters combine classic craftsmanship with modern durability, perfect for any exterior.
