The Keble No.2™
The Keble No.2™ is one of Oxford Planters’ original designs, recognised for its distinctive tapered form, horizontal boarding and carefully balanced proportions.
Its restrained geometry gives the planter a strong architectural presence without relying on decorative ornament. The tapered profile creates its distinctive silhouette, while horizontal timber boards emphasise the clean lines of the design.
We make each Keble No.2™ individually to order in our Cotswolds workshop in Oak, Iroko or Accoya™, with dimensions and finish considered in relation to its setting and intended planting.
A Study in Proportion & Form
The apparent simplicity of the Keble No.2™ places particular importance on proportion.
Its gently tapered profile narrows towards the base, creating a lighter visual appearance while retaining the presence required for substantial planting.
Carefully considered geometry allows the form and natural character of the timber to remain central to the design. As a result, the Keble No.2™ is deliberately understated, allowing the planting and surrounding architecture to provide the decoration.

Designed for Contemporary Landscapes
The tapered form of the Keble No.2™ works particularly well alongside modern architecture, glazing and restrained landscape materials, while the warmth of natural timber allows it to sit equally comfortably within more traditional gardens.
Used as a pair, the planters can frame entrances, doorways and gateways. In larger schemes, repeated forms introduce rhythm and structure along terraces, pathways and boundaries.
Oak, Iroko or Accoya™
The Keble No.2™ can be commissioned in Oak, Iroko or Accoya™, with each timber bringing a different character to its tapered architectural form.
Oak and Iroko introduce natural warmth and grain, creating a contrast with the clean geometry of the design and may be left to weather naturally. Accoya™ is particularly suited to a painted finish, allowing the planter to relate closely to exterior joinery, surrounding architecture or the wider landscape.
