A Contemporary Architectural Planter

The Keble No.2™ is one of Oxford Planters’ original designs, recognised for its clean tapering form, horizontal boarding and carefully balanced proportions.

Its restrained geometry creates a contemporary architectural planter with sufficient presence to define an entrance, terrace or garden space without relying on decorative ornament.

The taper gives the Keble No.2 its distinctive silhouette, while the horizontal timber boards emphasise its clean lines and provide a strong relationship with contemporary architecture and landscape design.

Each planter is individually handmade to order in our Cotswolds workshop in Oak, Iroko or Accoya™, with dimensions and finish selected to suit its setting.

A Study in Proportion & Form

The simplicity of the Keble No.2 places particular importance on proportion and craftsmanship.

Its gently tapered profile narrows towards the base, creating a lighter visual appearance while retaining sufficient structure for substantial outdoor planting.

Carefully resolved proportions and concealed construction allow the timber and geometry to become the principal features of the design.

The result is a contemporary wooden planter that is deliberately understated, allowing planting and surrounding architecture to provide the decoration.

    Square & Rectangular Keble Planters

The Keble No.2’s clean architectural form can be adapted to different proportions while retaining the character of the original design.

Alongside square planters, longer rectangular versions can be commissioned for boundaries, terraces and larger planting schemes where a more linear form is required.

Dimensions can be considered in relation to the planting, location and surrounding architecture.

    Designed for Contemporary Landscapes

The clean geometry of the Keble No.2 makes it particularly suited to contemporary gardens and architectural landscapes.

Its tapered form works well alongside modern buildings, glazed elevations and clean landscape materials, while the warmth of natural timber also allows the design to sit comfortably within more traditional gardens.

Used as matching pairs, Keble No.2 planters can frame entrances, doorways and gateways. Repeated in larger groups, they can introduce rhythm and structure along terraces, paths and boundaries.

    Oak, Iroko or Accoya™

    Oak Keble No.2 Planters

Oak gives the contemporary form a natural warmth and distinctive grain, allowing the Keble No.2 to work particularly well where modern design is combined with traditional landscape materials.

    Iroko Keble No.2 Planters

Iroko provides a durable hardwood option with a warm natural appearance and complements the planter’s clean architectural lines.

    Painted Accoya™ Keble No.2 Planters

Accoya™ provides excellent dimensional stability and is particularly suited to crisp painted finishes. Colours can be selected to coordinate the planter with exterior joinery, contemporary architecture or a wider landscape scheme.
