Visited Hidcote Gardens first thing this morning, have to say as always I am a little disappointed. Why can’t I go in all parts of the garden? Lots of the beds not so full as previous years. Filled the car with plants from Bob Browns – lots of treasures and then went to two of our gardens which both looked fab. Here’s a photo of the red border at Hidcote which as usual was shut even though thousands has been spent on the grass last year.

Well I wanted to take a photo of us turfing today in torrential rain but it was so bad and I was so muddy I couldn’t get my phone out. One thing we didn’t have to worry about – watering although still had sprinkler on. Thankfully working very close to home so able to walk back and have a hot bath whilst all my clothes were being washed. The garden, trees and surrounding fields did seem to green up within hours. I don’t think I grumbled too much nearly a loss of sense of humour before lunch when the turf pile didn’t seem to be going down and the rain certainly was. 

Turfing on a hot August day tidying someone else’s mess up!
